The Paul Scherrer Institute is with 1400 employees the largest research centre for the natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland and a worldwide leading user laboratory. Its research activities are concentrated on the main topics structure of matter, energy and environmental research as well as human health.

The Group Materials Science and Simulations (MSS, http://mss.web.psi.ch/), part of the Department Research with Neutrons and Muons (NUM), performs research in the structural and mechanical properties of metals, alloys and composites using in-situ testing facilities at the Neutron Spallation Source (SINQ) and at the Swiss Light Source (SLS), meanwhile exploiting synergies with computational modelling.

For the investigation of structure evolution and deformation resistance in nanocrystalline metals we are looking for a

Tugas Anda:

This research is part of a collaboration between the Paul Scherrer Institute, the Max Planck Institute in Düsseldorf and the University of Erlangen. The main objective is to develop knowledge on the interplay between the deformation mechanisms in nanocrystalline metals. Therefore you will perform transient experiments in the laboratory and in-situ mechanical testing during X-ray diffraction at the Swiss Light Source. You will also use basic microscopy methods to characterize the microstructure of the materials under investigation. The outcome of this research will be used in constitutive models.

Profil yang dikehendaki

• You hold a Master degree in physics or materials science
• Experience in mechanical testing and/or diffraction techniques is of advantage
• Excellent communication skills in English, knowledge of German is welcome
• You enjoy working in an international team

You will be registered as a PhD Student at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology EPFL in Lausanne, while the practical work will be carried out at PSI.

Beasiswa Erasmus Mundus untuk Master dan Doktor

Salam,

Komisi Eropa telah mengeluarka daftar terbaru dari program beasiswa Erasmus Mundus untuk tahun 2009/2010. Pendaftaran biasanya dibuka mulai pada bulan september dan berakhir pada bulan januari, tergantung dari konsorsium masing masing program. Beberapa program Erasmus Mundus juga memiliki batas akhir pada bulan februari dan maret. Untuk lebih jelasnya dapat dilihat pada web program masing masing sesuai dengan minat, disiplin dan ketertarikan ilmu atau jurusan.

Cukup banyak bidang bidang studi yang sangat cocok untuk diterapkan di Indonesia,  dari kehutanan, sampai ilmu teknologi. Selain itu Beasiswa Erasmus Mundus ini merupakan salah satu program unggulan Uni Eropa yang diilhami oleh suksesnya program Erasmus Soktrates. Dibandingkan dengan program program beasiswa yang ditawarkan oleh negara lain (bahkan beasiswa khusus dari negara eropa tertentu), Erasmus Mundus memliki prosedur seleksi yang sangat sederhana, tidak ada wawancara, tanpa dokument administrasi yang banyak dan jumlah nominal yang sangat besar, bukan cukup besar tapi sangat besar.

Ayo berlomba lomba mendaftar, sudah sangat banyak informasi yang tersedia mengenai beasiswa ini. Kalau masih tetap bingung mencari informasi kontak saja kapanpun, Insya Allah akan saya jawab sesuai dengan pengetahuan informasi saya.

The Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation (SMI) at the ETH Zurich, led by Prof. Georg von Krogh, focuses on research and teaching in the areas of innovation and strategy. In order to complete our international team and initiate a new project we are hiring as of November 1st, 2009 a

Ph.D. student in management and organization science (75%)

We seek a highly motivated Ph.D. student for a three-year project on innovation with an empirical focus on the pharmaceutical industry.

Applicants must hold an outstanding master degree, ideally in science or mathematics, with an additional qualification in business administration or economics, or, alternatively, in social sciences with a very strong qualification in empirical research methods. A very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Programming skills are an asset.

We provide an inspiring, supportive, team-based research environment, as well as an immediate and direct immersion into an ambitious international research agenda. We offer an appointment for a minimum of 3 years, attractive salary conditions, and working in a team of high diversity (currently 12 full-time members of 6 nationalities).
